But in practice, almost all commercial-grade transit losses (dealer-to-dealer, factory-to-stockyard) are also covered by a Marine / Open-Cargo policy — ask who is the "insured" and whose policy applies. Documents — the carrier's GC note / LR / way-bill, the receiving party's "damage received" endorsement on the LR, and photos at both ends. Compulsory excess applies; subrogation against the carrier is a MUST — do not close the file without a signed letter of subrogation.
