Standard OD does NOT include rodent damage — the policy excludes it as a non-accidental, gradual cause. Payable only if a specific "Rodent Damage" / "Pest Protection" add-on is in force. Even with the add-on, insurer typically wants (i) authorised garage certification that damage pattern is rodent-caused (gnaw marks, droppings, nest material), (ii) proof the vehicle was in regular use, not abandoned, and (iii) a reasonable gap between the last service and the loss. Reject if the harness shows heat/short-circuit melt without any gnaw pattern — that is self-ignition, not rodent.
